Devin's first day of pre-school & his best friend Nicho!

Today was Devin's official first day of Pre-school, we all went on Tuesday to meet his teacher and decorate his school bag. Today was his first day without me! I think I had a harder time with the realization then he did. He was so cute when we got to his class he said " hi Ms. Hill" I helped him find his name and put it on his cubby hole then he said " bye Mommy I love you" and went and sat in his seat. (it's like he grew up over night) Later when I picked him up we talked about what things he did at school this is what he said " It was fun we painted, played outside, had story time and Ms. Hill played the piano" I asked him if there was any boys in his class to this he replied "yes, Austin the teacher kept saying his name and he wasn't listening, but I was a good boy I got a sticker" He also said that he liked snack time they ate cookies.
Devin I am so proud of you hope that you continue to enjoy your class, learning new things and being the sweet boy that you are we love you so much.

Devin's first day and his bag that he decorated

And after school he had fun playing with Nicho our rooster! His new fav chicken being that he is the easiest to catch!

Katelyn enjoys Nicho too!

Devin thought that I should of pushed him and Nicho around.

So since I wouldn't, he decided he would push Nicho around.
Do you think Nicho had fun?
Sorry, I still need to introduce the chickens hopefully in the next post :)

Last minute camping trip to top of Monte

On Saturday August 7, We were relaxing Jason ran the Bairgutsman and I had just got back from taking the kids to the Tree house museum. Anyhow Jason says "lets go camping!" (it was 3:30 p.m) I was a little hesitant at first but decided to go, so we packed fast, drove up to Huntsville to get our trailer and headed to the Top of Monte ( a place Jason takes the scouts camping because it's only a little over an hour away)
That night we had Steak and tortellini spinach salad (we hardly ever eat red meat and it was so Delicious!) We later made a fire and roasted marshmallows. It was Katelyn's first time around the fire she usually is in bed by this time. So of coarse she was mesmerized by the flames and loved eating graham crackers not so sure about the cooked marshmallow though.
This was the view from our campsite!

And just up the hill was this view!

Before Breakfast we went on a nature hike in hopes to see deer. No luck it probably didn't help that Katelyn kept squealing and Devin kept pointing out that his boots were getting wet but it was ok "cuz cowboy boots can get dirty and then the wet grass cleans them."

Sage of coarse had to find some sticks!

Katelyn loved being outside and playing in the dirt

Devin found this log and wanted his picture taken on it.
He is such a great little hiker!

This was the tall grass that cleaned Devin's boots

Kids enjoying a breakfast of yogurt- pancakes and strawberries

Devin Loved riding his bike around. I think it's so cute that he pretends it's a motorcycle and even does sound effects! Katelyn loved exploring but had a little trouble on the uneven surface.

We than went fishing at Birch Creek reservoir

Our Sleeping beauty getting a little nap before heading down to the reservoir.

Devin and sage catching the big ones!

Devin's first Fish of the Summer!

Not to sure about this slimy thing!

Devin was so proud of his fish. He ended up catching five of them, two within half an hour (crazy I remember the last time Jason and I went we only caught two and we were there all day!) with the help of Jason. Don't tell Devin that he thinks he caught them all and said " I'm good at catching fish and Daddy's not!" Later when Jason was showing him how to gut the fish (sorry kind of gruesome) he asked Dev if he wanted to finish riping the guts out. To this Devin replied "oh so scary, so scary. No! I'll get my hands dirty"

Katelyn enjoyed being in the backpack mostly if I was the one carrying her

She also enjoyed throwing rocks, scribbling with rocks and banging them on larger rocks!

Kate snuggling Dev's "Mr. Jiggles" before we headed back home.
At Home Jason cooked up the fish and they were fantastic! (I usually don't like rainbow trout but he cooked them perfectly not fishy at all) Even the kids liked it!
Thanks Babe for the wonderful idea and for all the fun you helped create for a last minute over night trip! Let's definitely do this again!
